Recently, I blogged about our experience here at Advance – The Document Specialists, with IT departments wanting to use Active Directory integration on their MFPs, specifically so they weren’t required to maintain several local, independent address books of email addresses, fax numbers, network folder locations, user credentials, etc.,  on their multiple multi-functional devices.  Today I am going to share another, simpler, approach to meet this request called Remote Address Book.

With Remote Address Book, one Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFP can operate as the “host” for the address book, and the other iR ADVANCE MFPs can be programmed to pull destination information across the network off of the host device.  This allows IT staff to only need to support one address book, yet all the other devices will show the same location information.  For small businesses that may not have a sophisticated network, this can be a real time saver for the office support staff.  And by using the Remote User Interface, address information can be programmed on the host device across the network by using the web interface, allowing IT managers to keep the MFP up to date, remotely, from any PC on the network.

Yet, Remote Address Book is just one available feature that can help make your job a little easier, and can help free up time to allow you to focus on your core activities.  If your document management processes are spooking your office, let the professionals at Advance consult with you to streamline the workflow of your critical information. So there you have it, a trick and a treat.
