In the beginning…..

Blog # one. Sometimes it helps to just begin writing to get used to the idea that you’re about to embark on a new journey. Most people in Baltimore, Maryland know us from our commercials – Alan jumping out of a helicopter to fix a copier on the Pride of Baltimore (note: he did some of his own stunts for that one and actually landed in the hospital – true story), Jeff skateboarding to work, a water ballet, Alan in a speedo… But for all of the antics and humor in their commercials, the core of their business rings true.
In case you didn’t know, Advance didn’t start out selling copiers. The history predates those. But they eventually got there. 46 years later, a lot has changed, but not with the company’s principle foundations. In a business environment, companies should be able to focus on what they do best – leave other things to partners, like Advance, to manage areas outside their core competency. That was true with copiers, networked multifunctional printers, and now with document management (aka managed document services, an electronic archival and retrieval system, electronic workflow, the list goes on).
So here it is. The Advance blog. This is where some of the extended Advance family gets to share their knowledge and expertise with you– experts in copiers, document security, networked machines, training, electronic workflow, and more will share helpful tidbits here. So buckle up and enjoy the ride. Well try to keep it neat and to the point.
